Kin (born in 1981, Barcelona, Spain) is a Spanish street artist currently residing in Los Angeles. He has exhibited his work across Europe and the United States, and his art is featured in galleries in Barcelona, Miami, Chicago, Italy, Lyon, Netherlands and Assilah (Morocco). Kin began his artistic career as a graffiti writer in the early 1990s.
In 2010, Kin was honored to be selected as the Spanish muralist at the 32nd Festival Cultural of Assilah in Morocco, where he showcased his talent on an international stage.
In 2014, Kin was commissioned to paint one of the trendiest spaces of the time, “The Hall of the Arts,” a cultural venue showcasing some of the most significant theatrical productions in Miami. Major Miami TV stations such as Univision, Mira TV, America TV, and Chic Magazine covered the opening, interviewing Kin on his artistic talent and the realism evident in his mural for “The Hall of the Arts.”
Kin also created a mural in Wynwood, one of Miami’s most vibrant arts districts. Upon completing the mural, he was interviewed by Danilo Carrera in a special program, El Camino, aired on Univision and Galavision. During the program, Kin discussed graffiti techniques, offered advice to aspiring artists, and even invited Carrera to try spray painting for himself.
In addition to his work in Wynwood, Kin painted several commissioned murals in Miami Beach, including projects for hotels. Among these, his notable work at the iconic 1 Hotel Miami Beach stands out, further solidifying his reputation in the city’s art and design scene.
“Throughout his career, Kin has used various tags. Early on, he went by ‘Maus’ in Barcelona and ‘Liris’ in Holland. Upon moving to Miami, he established his startup, AkimGraff, to expand his artistic endeavors across the state.”
Currently, Kin is the co-founder of a non-profit art therapy organization “Holistic Kids Foundation” while being an Art Therapist, he uses Chromotherapy to facilitate children’s release of emotional states and internal blockage.
Caps, markers, and cans were the tools that he switched from the pens and brushes a while ago. Shifting his perspective of the art world and transforming brick walls into endless canvases.
Inspired from the Design and the open places, KIN Create a new concept of the graffiti, It starting mixed more styles. KIN going so fair that the templates and mix a lot of material of design, not usually in the art, with the graffiti concept. The design is a concept of the piece, with the new technology of the graphic design, leaving the piece fresh and floating in a new concept, the background of the piece not is secondary, it doesn’t a depth if not a complement that without belittle the artwork, gives more force as a whole.
The last series of KIN is an introspection of experiences in Miami and the travels from USA and Europe, a really deep of the vision about a reflection of the values at this society itself and his origins as graffiti artist: “On the one hand, a very precious hyperrealistic art, and on the other the graffiti vandal art.
